Daniele Raiola

PhD Candidate in Philosophy · Ca' Foscari University of Venice

Member of HPC of ngEHT · Collaboration Working Group

Research focus: social epistemology · epistemic trust · scientific collaboration

I study how trust shapes the epistemic output of scientific collectives. My work sits at the intersection of philosophy of science, social epistemology, and the philosophy of scientific collaboration.

About me

I work on the philosophy of science, with a focus on social epistemology, epistemic trust, and the conditions under which collective scientific knowledge becomes possible. My research examines how trust, collaboration, and institutional structures shape the epistemic output of large-scale research projects.

My doctoral project, Epistemology of Trust: How Trust Shapes Knowledge, investigates how trust contributes to the formation of reliable knowledge in scientific collectives, with particular attention to projects such as (ng)EHT and LIGO. I also engage in science communication and public outreach through my volunteering work at the Osservatorio Astronomico G.V. Schiaparelli.
